We are delighted to have been invited to play at the Big Pink Cake Christmas Party 2014 on Saturday 13th December – we’re amongst some great bands playing and to top it all there’s VIC GODARD! It’ll be a select 5-piece version of the HLC but we’ll be playing some new songs and some old, as well as a Christmas cover sung by the lovely Bernice:
Many thanks to Vinnie and Mark from My Little Owl for including us in their fantastic Best of the Southwest show last night, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully we’ll get off our arses and do a few more shows soon
I know that sounds like the title of a double-gatefold LP with Matt striking a rock pose on the front but it’s true, we are indeed playing a rare show at the Cafe Kino in Bristol on Saturday 6th September as part of My Little Owl’s Best of the Southwest night!
Tickets are available here: http://www.bristolticketshop.co.uk/eventdetails.aspx?e=6494
We will have copies of our new album with us (and the old one too) for anyone interested in purchasing a copy for a shockingly reasonable price
It will be a full line-up playing, and I think we’re on about 9 – there’s loads of great bands playing throughout the day starting at about 4 with some acoustic music, top DJ’s and ourselves and others on downstairs in the evening
One of the songs we’ll probably be doing from the new album is this one – see you there!
Our new album is officially now available! You can buy a digital copy from all the usual places, such as iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby, but the best place to get a beautifully-packaged CD copy is from the No Pudding Annie Records Bandcamp page:
In other news, the very excellent Right Chord Music have made us Band of the Week!:
and there’s another lovely review courtesy of So Said K blog:
The new album has been getting a few lovely reviews recently – thanks go to Raul from Bloodbuzzed and Indienauta for this one: http://www.indienauta.com/descubre-hi-life-companion/
Thanks also to http://wordsformusic.wordpress.com/2014/05/16/the-hi-life-companion-our-years-in-the-wilderness/ for their assessment, and of course the excellent http://toomuchapplepie.blogspot.co.uk/ for their plug (you’ll need to scroll down a little way to find us)
Just a reminder that you can stream a couple of songs and pre-order the record, due out on 16th June, via the No Pudding Records bandcamp page:
It’s available both as a download and as a beautifully-packaged CD Digipack designed by Dave Mitchell from www.tinybig.org
You can hear The Hi-Life Companion on this mix by HIROHOalfa2000 on Soundcloud. Also on the mix are tracks from Tiny Fireflies, The Fireworks (Hi Matthew!), The Bennetts, Berlin Brides and more. HIROHOalfa2000 is constantly adding new mixes online so be sure to check them out. お疲れ様
Raul from the always wonderful Bloodbuzzed blog recently uploaded a great ‘fantasy festival’ poster featuring bands he would love to see play live over 3 days at Bloodbuzzedchella, an alternative to Coachella Festival. The Hi-Life Companion are on stage on the Saturday night squeezed inbetween fuzzy pop duo, Young Romance, and Kiwi jangle-popsters, Trick Mammoth. Also on the same day we have Alpaca Sports, Lambchop, The Very Most, The Concretes, The Lucksmiths, McCarthy, Teenage Fanclub, Camera Obscura, Crowded House (the 1996 years!), The Decemberists, 10,000 Maniacs, The Beautiful South and top-of-the-bill, REM. Wow! That would be some line-up! Check the complete festival here.
